Before its creation, the founders of The Bayyinah Arabic Studies Institute had countless discussions with teachers, students and experts in the field of Arabic study leading to the following critical observations:

Translations, regardless of accuracy cannot communicate the eloquence, coherence and incredible grammatical precision of the Qur'an.

There is a great deal of interest in many communities in the subject of Classical Arabic studies.

Despite this interest, Arabic study circles in Masajid around the country tend to be run unprofessionally. There is generally a lack of one or more of the following: professionalism in teaching, effective curriculum, commitment from a significant population, conducive class environment and well defined goals.

Colleges offering Arabic studies are either too expensive or emphasize colloquial Arabic much more than Modern Standard. Classical Arabic is practically non-existent in college and university foreign language departments.

Classical Arabic should be made accessible to the entire community; men, women and the youth. If a high quality, convenient, affordable and proven option was made available to the public, it would generate a considerable response.
